PSGand Amiens SCwill begin their Ligue 1 seasons taking each other on at the Parc Des Princes in Paris on Saturday, 5th August.
Amiens SC is newly promoted to the Ligue 1 but the teams did play once before in May 2009 and Paris Saint-Germain won the game 0 – 1.
In recent weeks there has been huge speculation over the prospect of Paris Saint-Germain signing Barcelona’s Neymar. However, it looks more likely that they will play this game without him. Nonetheless, the team just won the Super Cup, defeating last year’s Ligue 1 champions Monaco 2 – 1. However, they did lose two games in the International Champions Cup before that, against Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur.
Amiens SC has been having a difficult preseason and lost their last three games in a row, against Troyes, Stoke City and Nancy. It is an extremely tough opening game for a newly promoted team and they are likely to struggle not to be overwhelmed. However, there is a chance that they will rise to the occasion and prove to be a challenge for the host team.
A 3 – 0 win for PSG is the most likely outcome with Paddy Power and Boyle Sports both offering odds of 11/2.
Paddy Power Odds: 1/9 PSG to Win, 8/1 for a Draw and 25/1 Amiens SC to Win
