Germany vs Mexico Preview and Prediction: Draw 1- 1 at 11/2
Germany and Mexico will play in the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup at the Olimpiyskiy Stadion Fishton Thursday, 29th June.
The teams haven’t played since the 2005 Confederations Cup when Germany beat Mexico 4 – 3. Before that Germany beat Mexico 2 – 1 in June 1998.
Germany finished top of Group B with 7 points having won games against Cameroon and Australia and drawn with Chile. Mexico finished second in Group A also with 7 points having defeated Russia and New Zealand and drawn with Portugal.
Mexico is ranked seventeenth in the world at present with 1050. Germany is ranked considerably higher at third in the world with 1511 points.
Germany are the reigning World Cup Champions and at this competition they are a particularly young team. However, there are a number of extremely talented players on the team and they performed well in the group stage.
Mexico also impressed in the group stage but with the exception of Portugal didn’t face particularly tough competition. The team will be looking to impress after winning tournaments in South America and build up confidence ahead of next year’s world cup.
