Premier League Teams Interested in Brentford’s Jota
There are reports that a number of teams, including Everton, West Ham and Newcastle, have expressed an interest in Brentford attacker Jota.
The Spaniard is only willing to leave the team for a Premier League club and Burnley and Swansea were also among the teams that sent scouts to watch him at the end of last season.
Jota, 25-years-old, is entering the last year of his contract, a year-long extension that the club recently triggered, and it is thought that he would be available for around £8 million.
Brentford are thought to be open to negotiating a new contract with Jota but they have not begun talks on the subject and they are aware that he wishes to move to the Premier League. Furthermore, the team is equally prepared to let his contract fun out if no Premier League club match his valuation.
Jota moved to Brentford from Celta Vigo in 2014 and performed exceptionally well under former boss Mark Warburton. However, the next year he became unsettled due to family reasons and left on an 18-month loan to Eibar.
The team recalled him in January as he was not getting many first-team minutes and he then scored 12 goals in 27 appearances to help Brentford to a mid-table finish in the second half of the season.
