Christian Eriksen Says It’s Hard to Say No to Barcelona
Tottenham Hotspur player Christian Eriksen has said that it would be hard to “say no” to Barcelona but at the same time dismissed speculation that he may leave Spurs.
Eriksen has become a key figure at Spurs since he arrived at the team in July 2013 and his performances have caught the eyes of many of Europe’s top teams.
This year the Denmark international was named Tottenham’s Player of the Year by fans after he finished the season with 12 goals and 23 assists in all competitions and the team finished second in the Premier League.
As a youngster, Eriken had an unsuccessful trial at Barcelona before he joined Ajax. He recently told the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet that very few players would turn down the chance to play for Barcelona but that while he wants to play at the highest level, he could have that chance with Tottenham.
“I have been there [at Barcelona] at some point and it was not very good. Barcelona are a great club and I do not think there are many who say no to Barcelona. But there is interest and there is definite interest. Before there is concrete interest, I have no opinion on it. There are always rumours about footballers. I still have a contract with Tottenham a few more years.”
He went on to say that he hopes to be playing at the highest level in the next two or three years, be it with Tottenham or elsewhere.
