Arsene Wenger Interested in Signing Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that he is considering making a bid for Riyad Mahrez over the summer.
Mahrez has requested to leave Leicester a year after he won the PFA Player of the Year award having helped the team win the Premier League title.
While Mahrez managed just six league goals last season, Wenger has said that he is still interested in signing him.
Talking to the media recently Wenger said, “We have not made a bid, but personally, I like the player, yes. I think he made a huge impact when they won the championship. Like at everybody else at Leicester, this season has been more challenging, but it doesn't take away from his qualities.”
He went on to say that there is a chance that they will make a bid for him but insisted that nothing was guaranteed.
During the same interview Wenger said that the team’s failure to qualify for the Champions League will not affect their chances of keeping Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. He said that both players love the club and “integrate well the values of the club and live the football we play”. Wenger also pointed out that they are under contract for another season and said that he is hoping to extend their contracts.
Wenger said that his priority this summer is to keep the majority of his players and try to add some “top, top” signings.See Best Offers
