England vs Slovakia Preview and Prediction: England to Win 1-0 at 9/2
England and Slovakia will play their eighth World Cup Qualifier match at Wembley Stadium on Monday, 4th September.
The last meeting between these teams was the reverse of this fixture in September last year and England won 0 – 1. Before that they played in the UEFA European Championship 2016 and that game ended in a goalless draw.
England is currently first in their qualifying group with 17 points, 2 points above Slovakia. The team defeated Malta 0 – 4 over the weekend but earlier in the summer they lost 3 – 2 to France and drew 2 – 2 with Scotland.
Slovakia are second in the qualifying group with 15 points, 4 points above Scotland and Slovenia. They are coming to this match having won against Slovenia over the weekend and earlier in the year they defeated Lithuania and Malta.
England has the advantage of playing for their home crowd and after a slightly complacent game over the weekend they will be eager to show that they are still in good form. Slovakia will be boosted by their recent win but face much tougher competition.
A 1 – 0 win for England is the most likely outcome with Paddy Power and Boyle Sports offering odds of 9/2 and 5/1 respectively.
Paddy Power Odds: 2/5 England to Win, 7/2 for a Draw and 8/1 Slovakia to Win
Boyle Sports Odds: 2/5 England to Win, 10/3 for a Draw and 15/2 Slovakia to Win
