Top Premier League Teams Interested in West Hams’ Domingos Quina
A number of the Premier League’s top clubs, such as Arsenal, are reportedly monitoring the West Ham wonder-kid Domingos Quina after he put in a series of impressive performances at the U19 Euros in Georgia.
Quina, who is just 17 years old, joined West Ham from Chelsea last summer when he was worried that he would not feature regularly at Stamford Bridge. Slaven Bilic immediately promoted him to the first-team squad where he played twice in the team’s Europa League qualifying campaign before the Premier League season began.
It was reported this week that Arsenal offered a contract to the player before he joined West Ham and that the team remains eager to sign him.
Just like England, Quina’s national team, Portugal, have reached the semi-finals of the U19 Euros and will be playing Holland later today. Their progress is in part down to the impressive performances put in by Quina, including his man-of-the-match performance in Portugal’s 2 – 1 win against the Czech Republic.
His performance this year comes after he won the UEFA European U17 Championships last year.
Last season while he was playing for West Ham’s PL2 team Quina scored a fantastic goal against Leicester City in the Premier League Cup, lobbing the goalkeeper from the halfway line in the 2 – 0 away win.
He was ruled out of the latter part of the season with an injury but his performances and development saw him win the prestigious Dylan Tombides Award for the outstanding player from West Ham’s academy.
